Llandel Veguilla Malavé, also known as Yandel, was born on January 14th, 1977, in Cayey, Puerto Rico. He is best known as a member of the reggaeton duo Wisin & Yandel.
They met each other in school, and started their careers in 1998. Their last album, "Líderes", came out in 2012. The group has been on hiatus ever since.
Wisin & Yandel also have their own record label, WY Records, through which they created the supergroup Los Vaqueros, with artists such as Tego Calderón, Jowell y Randy, Franco "El Gorila", Tony Dize, Don Omar and Hector el Father, among others. They released their first album, "Los Vaqueros", in 2006. The following album, "Los Vaqueros: El Regreso", came out in 2011.
Together, Wisin & Yandel were the first Reggaeton artists to win a Grammy, in 2009, for best Latin Urban Album, for "Los Extraterrestres", which also won Best Urban Music Album at the Latin Grammys.
Yandel released his first solo album "Quien Contra Mí" in 2003, and his second solo studio album, "De Líder a Leyenda", in 2013. His latest album, "Dangerous", was released in 2015, and produced hits such as "Encantadora".
He's also been featured in many popular songs, such as "Fronteamos Porque Podemos", along with De La Ghetto, Ñengo Flow and Daddy Yankee.
Before working in music, Yandel was a barber.
