Born in Connecticut in March of 1990, J Quiles faced a rough life from the start. When he was just five years old, he and his completely uprooted their lives and fled the United States because of abuse. As a young child, J would listen to the radio constantly, drowning himself in the various 90's music styles that were out there.
When he and his mom settled in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, J Quiles' life took a 180-degree change. To free himself from the traumatic life that he had lift, and the changes that he had gone through, he immersed himself deeply into Latin music. He quickly grew to love some of the earliest stars of Reggaeton and Spanish Hip Hop music, such as Tempo and Los Bambinos. J began to focus on his own craft of singing and rapping, and worked hard to create his own unique style.
Eight years after moving to Puerto Rico, J Quiles' mom decided that it was time to head back to the United States, in the hope that it would have more opportunities for herself and J. The timing was great, as Reggaeton music was just starting to grow in popularity in the United States, and J's passion for that type of music was continuing to grow.
In 2007, J Quiles graduated from high school and turned his complete attention to his musical pursuits. He worked hard at local studio sessions and performed shows all over Orlando. In 2009, he recorded the single "Se Safo" with the help of Genio and Baby Johnny, and it became an internet hit.
In 2010, J Quiles came out with his debut single along with a music video accompaniment. The video for the single, "Algo Contigo", garnered more than three million YouTube views, and it helped J to catch the notice of E One's Latin Label, Rich Music.
J Quiles has been nominated on iTunes Latin as "New and Noteworthy", and his single "Orgullo" debuted at #34 on the Billboard's Tropical charts. He is definitely someone to keep an eye on in the Latin music scene.
